  • Plug wires & Caps

OK my 81 special has been running great so I couldn’t leave well enough alone. Received an Accell super coil kit from Santa and decided to install it. Got it all fitted and I'm looking at those 8mm wires that came with it. They are fiber core so I really want to go with a copper core wire and I’m not sure I could stand the look of those automotive plug caps. At issue is the size wire. If I were to replace the 2 NGK short 90s caps with the non resistance type and remove the resistor from the long 90s that I have what would be the size wire to go after. The 6 mm or 7 mm? Has anyone stuffed the 7mm wire in the stock caps?

You should be able to get the 8mm caps, non resistor, to go on an 8mm wire, or the 7mm solid wire.
I just used 6mm solid on the old caps with resistors when I changed the coils to Honda coils. All black, looks good, works well.

10 yrs back i got the Accel yellow solid wire kit and mated it with NGK plug caps. That should work for you.

      It's still working well, BTW
