  • She is alive!!!!!

    Good Morning All!
Just got another 80 XS1100 special...the previous owner really neglected her so I bought her about 3 weeks ago and attempted to find out everything wrong on my ride home through downtown Seattle in the rain of course... I couldn't kill her she ran well and got me to work and then home. I changed out the bars first thing to a set of daytonas and while doing that I discovered that at one point she had been laid down.

Her headlight bucket is roached, the gauge cluster has been opened to the weather, the left side engine bracket was folded forward a bit, left side cover broken at the lock, the forks had a twist to them and all of the carb boots were loose. oh oh and wait I was drywalling my garage to get it ready for winter and scoot work when I banged my leg on the stock mufflers to discover that they had bee only hanging by a mounting bolt and the friction holding them to the headers!

So here we are 3 weeks later...new bars, new grips, new bar end mirrors, straight forks, straight pipes, straightened engine guard, and new stuff on the way. Thanks you guys for all of your posts which helped me figure out my backfiring and power issues.

Still trying to figure what gauges (if any) I want to run on my new monster.
