fuel seding unit (82 XJ)

Now that I've solved one problem with the bike another shows up.... The warning light on the dash flashes and the fuel light shows although I have a full tank of gas. Any tips on troubleshooting this. I looked through a few threads but couldn't find anything specific to the 82 XJ.

mines rusty

last year mine worked fine,this year not so fine. Took it out and was pretty rusy.now sometime it works sometime it doesn't.As you can tell i'm not a stickler for authentic,so i just go by my trip meter for fill ups.

Gas Tank

Hey Tom Same thing happened to me last year. Float on sending unit came off. Filled hole with J B Weld, drilled new hole and reasembeled unit. Works fine so far. Good Luck ,keep us posted. bkr
