After I picked my bike up from mechanic I noticed my kick start flopping around. I never use it, but maybe they did,..who knows. I had to remove it because I was in a pinch and could not figure out how to get it back the way it should be. I noticed a dimple where a ball bearing might fit? if there's supposed to be one there, it's not now. Is this the culprit? If yes, anyone have a part # or name for it so I can source one?

If the lever is just flopping around your mechanic probably didn't get the return spring in it's proper place when he did your clutch springs.I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

Yep, the spring needs to be hooked correctly, not too tricky but the cover does need to come off to reset. If you are not going to ever use it, I would leave it alone. The 80+ bikes the kicker was omitted.2H7 (79) owned since '89

Thanks guys.
Or like Phil said, if you're not going to use it, just forget about it. You can always use your other emergency starter if you get in trouble. Around here we call that one "a hill".I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

I've kicked it over once just for giggles. Started right up. I'd leave it alone but then my starter button will break and I'll be stranded.
They've offered to "make me happy" if I bring it back. Everytime I try and tell a mechanic about something I learned here on the forum I get the eye roll. In their head they're saying "sure, another a-hole who heard something on the net trying to tell me how to do my job".....never fails,....no matter how right I am..lolRob - 79 SF
