    Tachometer

    Putting new clocks on, can someone tell me which wire is which please, ie tacho feed and light? Wiring is the bain of my life and not good with diagrams

    White should be the signal feed and tan should be the bulbs. Black is ground.

        Rob, if you are using an aftermarket tach, you can't use the signal wire for the XS tach, it is an AC voltage from the alternator. Conventional tach hookup would be the neg. side of the ignition coil.

            If you are using aftermarket gauges, it should also be noted that almost all aftermarket cable-drive speedos use a 2:1 ratio at the speedometer drive. The XS uses a 2.9:1 ratio, so that would make a 2:1 speedo read about 1/3 fast...
