  • Am I just an idiot or do the mac 4-2 leak a ton

Awhile ago I got a mac 4-2 system for my bike but it leaks like crazy where the headers join the mufflers. Right now I have the Muffler slipped over the headers Is this correct or are the tongues at the end of the muffler suppose to go inside the header pipe.

Also had a sudden loss of power today on my drive home it might be related but not sure yet I put about 1k on the bike since i put the new pipes on and no problems. now I can't go over 20mph in first gear without redlining used to be able to take it up to 40mph.

any one else have this issue?

If your engine is revving in gear and you're not moving the clutch is slipping. Not related to the exhaust.

Which Mac system do you have? I just had a set of fairly new turnout mufflers get really restrictive on me and I had to take them off.

Tihey SLIP OVER the header pipes. In other words opposite that you may think. Exhaust flow direction ALWAYS dictates whether inside or outside slip-over connection/

I had Mac 4 to 2 and no leaks. Possible you did not tighten the clamp tight enough? I really cranked mine down. Maybe you did not slip them on far enough?

Nott betting you got in a h there to visually see what YOUR failure was with installation, but betting you got in a hurry and tightened things as you installed them.......a no-no installing ANYTHING. Loosen everthing back up and start with muffler clamps FIRST, then tighten muff hanger mounts(if you hopefully have any on there)
