I have a 1980 G had the Factory fairing, side bag, air front, and heavy duty rear shocks put on as a kit at dealer. There is a chrome cap on the air valve for the front fork tubes. I had it on just before the rally last year as I always check and tighten things before a trip. Anyway it is gone and I can not find a replacement. If anyone has one they are not using let me know I am interested. There are different types available but mine had the hex nut chrome cap.
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

It's the same size and thread as a valve stem cap on the tire. You can get all sorts of chrome caps at any auto parts store.

You can get all kinds of caps but nothing like this. It does screw down on the threaded valve stem it flares out at the bottom about 5/8ths and tapers up to a size 10 metric bolt head. I have the other side just looking for a replacement like what jumped off my bike, they are rare as Yamaha changed to just a standard chrome valve cap the next year.

His 80G and Venturer(81H) are different from those. He might check wit Andreas Weiss instead.

I will send a note to Andreas but typically he sells whole assemblies so I do not see him pulling the cap off a set he has. Andreas is a great source but for him it is a business not just a collection of parts he gets his best price from complete sets. Thanks for the reply though. I am hopping someone has just one sitting in a corner covered in dust. I will also put up a picture this evening and maybe someone can give me its part number The standard fiche does not have it.

            Thanks

                          Hi Ron,

Have you scored a cap yet ?

If not, I have one sitting on my desk that you may have.

It's the same as the one pictured in Georges post with the 12mm hex

                          1977 XS650D ( patiently awaiting resto)
