been working on it for 2 years got pics from when i got it till how it sits now.

Has a harley narow glide tripple trees and forks with my original rim. new neck bearings and a bearing sleeve to convert the harley stem to fix my new bearings. 14" apes with shovelhead style controls with street glide cables that i made. 16k miles on the motor. it sat for 17 years against a tree. been rewired and alot of thing moved for mantence and space. i didnt have the original side covers. but i didnt like them anyways. i made new side covers out of aluminum to streamline the look haave to weld taps for the mounts. ironhead rear fender and tail light. LED signals. have to buys a turn signal module because the control change. alot of up grades and fab work. main thing now is to get a dront caliper and get my tank finished and paint everything to match. im loving the way its looking. the best part is i have around $1100 invested in the bike. then the fun part begins. paperwork for bonded title since its more than 25 years old.

What you have is a great start on bringing back a bike from the scrap yard! Others may not like it, but it's yours, and you are the only one that NEEDS to like it! I can understand NOT trying to save the Midnight Special, as the cost would have been close to $2,000 in parts looking at the before photo. Just be careful once you have everything tuned, as it will outrun most HD's, and it pulls like a DC9 Cat from 1200RPM to 8,500RPM.

Awesome job, nothing like making it look like your very own one of a kind.

Nice save! One issue you'll have with a Harley caliper is the XS rotors are much thicker (.07" thicker) and the caliper won't go over the rotor unless the pads are pretty worn. I widened a set of Harley calipers for this, but I think a better solution is to have your rotor surface-ground down to the Harley thickness of .2". It may be cheaper/easier to use a Harley cast front wheel/rotor.

And I hate to tell you this, but you better put mufflers back on it.... These motors DO NOT like open exhaust and you'll chase carb tuning issues until you do. Many here have tried to run open exhaust, none have succeeded.

exhaust is baffled. not full open. it runs great the ways it set up right now. ik about the rotor thickness difference. had an argument with a harley buddy of mine about the rotors. ill handle i when i get the caliper. just finished paining it. have to still weld on the tabs for the side plates.

                  Like the fender.

Nice job on the rescue of the bike. For most (myself included) I would not have pursued fixing that one.....been there and done that ONCE!

I like that rear fender set-up a lot. Any chance of getting a rear view pic of that set-up? Looks pretty cool from the side.

What are you doing there for a fuel tank cap? I notice the original MNS had a cap and you now have something else on there? I have a couple extra tanks without caps and whatever you're doing may be something I can do on my other tanks......

the gas cap is an old chevy push on cap. just shaved the guides a lil and dinged the tank ring a litle bit. line it up and it locks down.
