A couple of months ago I replaced my 5th gear, #1 shift fork (between 5th and 2nd), and dremmeled the 2nd gear slots. When I put it all back together things worked fine for awhile, then 2nd began slipping again every once in a while. I thought it was because I was using the slick Mobile 1 synthetic oil. So I drained the oil and put in regular oil. The shifting became louder, cluncked hard, then 2nd gear always seemed to slip. So, today I tore it down again (only took and hour and a half). This is what I found: 1) a c-clip and a washer in the oil pan and 2) wear on the inside (facing 2nd gear) of shift fork 1. My question now is where could the washer and clip fallen off from and 2) what could be causing the wear on the shift fork? Thanks for your help. Phill
