I used one of those theaded insert kits on 1958 18Hp Johson boat motor 30 years ago.

I stripped a spark plug the night before vacation.

The kit was great. It did a really nice job, and it was fast and easy.

The only problem I had was the insert tended to spin when I removed the plug for service subsequently. I had used the recommended RTV when I installed it.

So I Super-glued the insert in and never had another problem with it.

If I did it today, I'd at least use the red Lock-tite instead of Super-glue.

Nylon washer! They are more forgiving and seal nicely.
