  • Balance and blueprint?

I have read in many places here that these motors are basically maxed out on HP in stock mode and normally aspirated. I have also read here that these motors have loose tolerances. Has anyone ever tried to balance and blueprint one? I did a search and came up empty.

The parts you'd need to do a blueprint job on these are pretty much unobtainium these days, so I guess the answer now would be 'no'....

As to the 'loose' tolerances, that's typical of any air-cooled motor. Liquid cooled motors can be run much tighter because you can maintain even operating temperatures better.

FWIW, the factory motors WERE a balanced crank assembly. They also have identical upper chamber capacity. /they also have radioused rods......on and on. Rebuilding one using different coponents from other cratered motors negates a balanced crank assembly.
