Turn signal removal?

Hi, I just bought a windshield for my XJ1100 and the directions say I need to attach lower brackets to the headlight bracket. The only place I can see them work is if I install the bracket between the front turn signals and the headlight. My problem is I can't figure out how to remove the shaft (where the turn signals are mounted) and I don't want to break anything by trying to unscrew them if that isn't how they come off. Does anyone know how to remove them? Thanks Phill

stalk removeal

pull out the headlight look inside the headlight bucket there are nuts that retain the stalks.Youll figure it out,pretty easy once you see it .
