    thankyou all for your input

TopCatGr58 you brought up a good point, and this is my current setback. my current insurer like many other companies i've spoken to do not insure bikes over 30years and one i found(desjardins) is quoting me $3600!
the rep said that even though its an older bike, 1100cc=$$$insurance$$$

so i'll have to do more shopping around and in case i have no success, i'll have to put this on hold. but thank you all for your input this community has really helped me for a good opinion on the bike and i don't doubt that you all would have helped me get it in working order.

    cheers!

Sharpz lives in Toronto, Ontario ...

And AFAIK, Progressive does not offer auto/motorcycle insurance policies to Canadian drivers/riders.
