  • Should this be live 12v ?

    Question from the electrical dummy
I think (hope) this empty connector set is for attaching lights to the rear?
Should it be live when he key is ON? Mine is not.
Wire colours seem to match the connector going to rear lights.

As one who believes it is PFM perhaps I should not be looking behind the curtain

    Phil,

Those should be the Dark Green, Chocolate, and Black wires for the Right/Left Turn Signals and Ground.

The Chocolate or Green should be intermittent hot when you use one of the Signals.

The Black wire runs forward inside the harness to the common frame ground point at the Regulator/Rectifier mounting screw.

      Thanks Scott,
I had hoped for an easy power source to add an extra tail light and or brake light. Will give it more thought.

Phil, if you're not going with LEDs, or even if you are adding LEDs, you could add a couple of small relays that get their food from that 10A Accessory block or add an inline fuse direct from the battery. Trigger the relays with the existing Tail and Brake circuits.

Scott, I do have both the accessory and a spare fuse available. I will give your idea some thought. Definitely LED. Perhaps just spliced in the tail light housing.

If you are going LED, just use the same wire that goes to the existing brake/tail light. Especially if you are changing the current brake/ tail light to LED. I wouldn't add many incandescent lights to existing wiring, but LEDs wouldn't be a problem.

              Hi Phil

There should be two spare wires under you tail light all ready to go. Can't remember the colours right now, one was dark green, can't remember if the other was blue or yellow.
