  • 1979 110sf Tach

So, based on what I read here, a fluctuating tachometer COULD mean dirty bearings. I sprayed the inside wit electrical cleaner. Note: it doesn't hurt the electronics, but it will take the paint off the face! It didn't help. Needle still bouncing around.mcould be tach or could be the electrical system. I will check electrical as per manual. If no problem, then I guess I need to have tach rebuilt.
Quite the learning experience! Thanks to jhughes3 for stepping up to sell his speedo! Now I just have tach, 1st gear, 2nd gear, brakes and a surging engine. Sure glad I spent the extra money for a finished bike, didn't want another project. Anyway, I love the bike and will see it through. Then I can work on my other bike projects, 1986 Honda Goldwing Aspencade and 1972 Norton Combat Commando. I need to retire so I can have the time!

A bouncing tach might be a symptom of a dirty conection in white big plug from your stator, located behind fuse box. This is where tach gets its signal from.
