Can anyone verify (picture) the correct luggage rack backrest as installed from the factory for the 1981 Venturer?

    Backrest?

    Mike,

I believe this is what you're looking for ...

Tall adjustable backrest with zippered case in back:

    And the short adjustable backrest:

    Hope that helps!

Did Yamaha use both of these on the Venturer?

        Yep ...

Yamaha gave buyers the choice of the short or tall backrest, but I believe the tall one was considered original equipment, and the short backrest was the available option.

Wish I could find a better pic of the tall one ...

I have been confused in the past as I have seen both. I have a tall one with the zippered pouch on a 1979SF. Not sure if it is the same one in your picture - looks a little different. Thanks for clearing that up Marco. Much appreciated.

            Hey Mike,

Regrettably our brochures for the 81 Venturer doesn't SHOW the backrests...

here's an image from our 80 G that shows the SHORT one in front of the trunk!
