  • Rubber plug in the manual cct.

I tried resetting the plug 3X once with 3m rubber cement and 2X with caulk. I cannot seem to get this plug to stay in. I think the last time I did this it was with yamabond. Is this a sign that something else is wrong? All cylinders are firing bike is running well. there is no noise from the cam chain.

A new plug is available, I think. For me, it would be time to move on the the ACCT. No more oil leaks, no possible chain slips, no more adjustments. I think of it as a "win, win, win" situation.

Was thinking of the ACCT mod and was thinking of doing it at the next valve check. with the valve covers off I can make sure the cam chain is in place. I'm a little paranoid since I fell for the cam chain on the side of the bottom sprocket trick.
New plug? I still have the plug do you think it could have shrunk a little?

        Ouch....

The rubber hardens and shrinks as it gets old but it has a steel core.

If the plug's not totally cracked and ruined, set it 'cup' side down on a socket extension bar or something similar and tap it with a mallet so the edge expands a little over the extension.

Clean the cam chain tensioner 'nose' and the rubber plug with some of that spray brake or carburetor cleaner to get rid of any oil.

Lightly coat the edge of plug with Yamabond and tap the plug into the cam chain tensioner until it seats.

Watch it for a minute to make sure it stays seated and doesn't try to pop back out because of an air pressure differential.

Leave it alone for a few hours, preferably overnight to let the Yamabond cure before you start the engine.

        .

If the crankcase breather is blocked/kinked/plugged up, excessive pressure could cause that plug to blow out, JAT
