Hello All. Got a leak in the rear left section of tank. It doesnt look like its coming from the petcock or any hoses coming from it. Right side is dry. I just filled tank for the first time also on my longest ride since i bought the bike. Any suggestions where else to look. Thanks.

If it's a Standard, check the overflow tube at the seat. If it rusted through, it allows gas to flow out! Also, check the tank itself for pin holes. The seams, or close to them, seems to be the place for rust.
One way to find it is to use flour to coat that part of the outside of the tank, and then put some light oil in the tank and see if the flour shows the leak.Ray Matteis

Fuel Leak
Unfortunately, all old bike fuel tanks have a history of being rusted through. You can replace the tank hoping that you are going to get a better one. If yours is salvageable, you can use it after cleaning, de-rusting, and adding a liner.
You can search this site to see details on refurbishing fuel tanks.1981 XS1100H Venturer
