  • Motorcycle shipper

My kid found me an XS11 on the east coast -yeah, great kid! - but I have to get it out to Los Angeles. Anyone have a lead or experience with a reliable mc shipper that won't take me to the cleaners? It needs to go from ohio to cali.
Any and all help is truly appreciated.
    Cheers,

+1 for Uship, just talk to the shipper on the phone first and get a sense of them (my guy was an experienced motorcycle shipper who happened to be going past my pickup and drop off points so was cheap).

        Shipper

Typically Uship, Motorcycle Shippers, and others use independent contractors. I usually go online to 2 or more of these companies, put in the locations, and wait for their bids.

On several occasions I have used Power Sports Transit 812-269-8636. They are independent. Normal transit is open. Very reasonable and reliable.

Get the online quotes first and then call them for comparison.

Does the bike have to be in a crate before they will ship?

No crate required. Some shippers offer different modes of shipment - Enclosed trailer, open truck bed. The open shipments are least expensive, but are quite safe. You can ask for a cover to be placed on the bike while in transit. Most will oblige.

One other source is Kodie Sneath for enclosed shipping. He goes to the west coast often. 706-830-7018.

I don't know if it's still offered, but when I moved to Vegas I took my old Suzuki to a Harley dealership in Pennsylvania and they shipped it to the bike shop of my choice. I'm not sure what's "reasonable" to ship a motorcycle, but they charged $300 to remove fluids and handlebars, crate it, and ship it.

But that was 15 years ago.
