my speedometer moves remarkably slowly. If I stop at a light after doing 30mph it will take around 10-20 seconds after I've come to a stop to drop back down to 0 and same if I am accelerating. This isn't normal right? what could be causing this?

You can try some spray silicone lube with the straw but it's the needle spindle that's sticking, not the drive. It's hard to reach without taking the speedometer apart, just don't go berserk and get silicone all over the inside of the faceplate; stuff will never come off.

I put about 150 miles on the bike and the speedo is still painfully slow. How awful is it to take these apart to grease them properly and clean out the gunk.79 F Bobber/Cafe Hybrid

I'll run through it again ,,,,,, I had one that was slow but while working on the bike I happened to leave it out in the sun, have no idea how hot, it was hot seat but went for a ride after a few miles speedo worked fine and did till I sold the bike.
Now I use the oven on warm, maybe 120-150 for 15 min. preheated, fixed a number of them like this.
Now I'm thinking maybe a hair dryer from WW for less than $10 ?
