  • 1979 F Time Machine

Take a look at this beauty and then I'll tell you the story...

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/1979-Yamaha-...p2047675.l2557

I found this on Craigslist early this month, located half an hour south of Syracuse, NY and contacted the owner about it. She told me that her father had owned an F and he liked it so much that he bought another one that he had delivered to him in the crate. The bike stayed in the crate and was kept inside until he retired and moved from NY to MT. He took the bike out with him, still in the crate. Finally, after 33 years, in early 2012 he had it put together but then passed away in April 2012 before riding it. His daughter went out to MT to gather up his belongings and brought the bike back to NY in a trailer and has kept it in her basement since then. Finally sold it recently on Ebay for $7500 to a collector in Australia. The bike has 1.2 miles on the clock and has never had gas, oil, or brake fluid in it...he never started it!!

I can't decide what would be harder to do...spend $7500 on a bike that nice and then start riding it or spend $7500 on it and then only just look at it. Either way, quite a story. Makes you wonder what else is sitting around undiscovered someplace. Just wanted to pass on what I thought was a cool story and some pics of a gorgeous bike.

I'd buy a HUGE glass box, and display it like a scale model, lol.

      The Find

Never see any like this. I'm guessing that new owner is a collector. Dream Machine for sure.

Pretty shocking that something like this happens every so often. I'd say it belongs in some Japanese bike museum, now that would be a good home for it.
        What a thing of art.

Nice bike! I got my "shed queen" 80SG in what was basically perfect condition and it isn't in much less condition than that now.

            And I ride it ! YEE-HAW!
