Ditto. If the seals are not damaged or compromised, good to go!

I used new seals on my 80SG when going through it when I got it, then just reused the seals on my 80G when I rebuilt the brakes on it. Both bikes brakes work great, in this day and age of "just buy new" it still is A-OK to do like our dads did and use what isn't broken!

      Just my 2 cents worth

If it were me and I had the calipers apart I would invest in new seals. Why chance having to just tear them down again. I would also spend the time to rebuild both master cylinders as well as redoing the rear caliper. These bikes never had the greatest brake system to begin with and they are notorious for sticking and rubbing. For something as old as these bikes are and fairly inexpensive to redo, spend a couple of extra bucks and do the job right. Might help increase your mpg as well as give you the piece of mind that your braking system is good. That is what I did with mine over a year ago now and my brakes haven't given me any problems since. Might want to give this old thread a read before finishing you brakes. We had quite a discussion on grease. http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41610. One other note there is a tool available that makes removing those stuck pistons a breeze. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BRAKE-CALIPE...a30c9c&vxp=mtr on ebay. There are other manufacturers of this tool but it is a nice tool to have in the old toolbox. They work by grabbing the inside non brake contact surface of the piston and then you just gently tap the caliper on the flat side of a board and the piston just works itself out.

        in case your interested.

From Georgefix store. I in no way endorse just this site for parts but this is everything in one kit to do both masters as well as all three calipers. http://www.georgefixs.com/78-81-xs11...-caliper-kits/. One other upgrade that most do is replace your brake hoses with stainless if you have not already done that. Really makes a difference in stiffening the system.
