Do you have a manual???? There is one available if you do not! It is on member Catatonicbug's profile and is also known as marshall ringlers site I believe. If you do not have one, you need one, and if you have one, you need glasses!
All kidding aside none of these bikes were stock with 130 mains in them! Someone before you has messed with them for whatever reason, and now you get to fix em. When you said that you used the original jets, most if not all of us would think the correct sized ones. Original to you is a bit different than original to the bike.
If you PM me your phone number or email address I can help a lot from here. Texting works too.

I have a Haynes manual, but it is very first generation. Gives me the basics on assembly/dissembly but that's it. Hardly any specifics gives a decent break down on parts but on my bike still doesn't show my bike specificly.

        Mains

Main jet should be 137.5 for 1979F and 1979SF. I am assuming that you have the correct year carbs on your bike. Buy genuine Mikuni parts ONLY for these carbs. JETRUS.COM is a good source.

Well I gave up... Well kind of, ordered a compete rebuild kit new gaskets and seals all around. I was having too many issues with oil leaking and compression all around for my liking. I would gather I am about half way apart with pictures and labeling everything alon the way. Found some wiringconnections that I will need to redo. I will also be repairing the sections that were painted as well. It should be a fairly new bike when I am done.

              Hey there,

Well, I hope you've been reading some of the other posts/threads on here, like the Needs hands on help with carbs thread by Jeff. Schming found several problems with the "KITS" that are sold for our bikes, both in the generic jets that are always incorrectly sized vs. Genuine Mikuni parts. Also found problems with the float needle size and design...again the Genuine Mikuni fixed the problem he had with flooding/leaking carbs!

SO....sorry you will have spent $$ for complete kits, when you will probably only use a few parts/gaskets out of them.

Yes I got original parts before I decided to do this(after I bought the cheapie kits I was naive) I meant engine seals and gaskets. All needed for rebuilding the engine/transmission/final drive. I have the carbs synced as well as I could with bad compression and valve seals leaking oil onto the plugs. So I will be re sycning after its rebuilt.
