  • Spoked hub for hard tail chain drive.

Hi guys I've hard tailed my 1100 and now doing a chain conversion. Can I use spoked wheels off an xs650? I'm wanting to run a 200 Tyre. I should mention my xs is also supercharged running 6 pound boost so I'd need strong spokes. Would the xs650 spoked rim be upto this? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

If you are getting rid of the drive shaft you can do anything you want at this point since you have to get a new swing arm.

Us the XS650 wheel up front. The XS650 might have 50 HP. The engineers that designed the rear wheel were not considering 100+ HP. Considering that, what do you think?

Could I replace the spokes on the xs650 rear hub to make it stronger? My 1100 is producing around 177 hp. I thought the xs650 hub might be a easy fit and I could use the 1100 axel and caliper???? Do you think it will be upto the job? ?

You may want to contact Buchanon. They may have an answer. Has there ever been a production 177 HP bike that came with spoked wheels?

Again, if you are getting rid of the shaft drive you need a different swing arm. Seems like it would be much easier and safer to just get a swing arm off another bike and just use that hub to lace up for the size you want and just use that brake setup.

Most estimates will credit a supercharger for a power boost between 30 and 50 percent over the original output. 50% is perfect world scenario, so absolute max is somewhere @ 46%.

Got any dyno numbers? Also, a shame to hardtail it so you can't keep better HP to the ground where it will lose traction over any/all bumps.

                Too Rough To Ride

In all likelihood, you would spin the tire or it would slip on the rim before you would ever break the wheel.

Other drive train components would be at greater risk of failure than the wheel.

                  Screw it

in place, you need to anchor that tire in the rim. So about 20 screws though the rim into the bead of the tire on each side may do it, I'm guessing on the number of screws and the depth screwed in.
