Under tank left side of frame. Its a ballast resistor.
It bumps resistance of coils in early bikes from 1.5 ohms to 3 ohms. Late bikes have 3 ohm coils and no ballast resistor.
If you run 1.5 ohm coils with no resistor the TCI can be damaged by too low resistance.
That is my understanding of how it all works.
