  • XS1100 Foot Pegs -- NEED new ones! HELP!

Hi I am looking for some online help!

I have an 1980 XS1100G -- still with the original silver/gray factory paint and dealer-installed Vetter fairing. All original.

My problem is the old rubber on my foot pegs and my shifter is falling off.

I looked for some information in this forum, but any mention of foot pegs or rubber replacement was quite old and those links are now dead.

Does anyone have any idea where I can purchase replacement foot pegs? Or where I could find replacement rubber?

It doesn't have to be original -- but something close would be nice.

    Thank you for any help!!

These parts are long obsolete... so your choices are searching eBay for a set of NOS or good used OEM pegs, posting a 'wanted' ad here, or adapting something else on there. There's plenty of aftermarket choices but if you don't have a Harley they'll be some sort of 'universal fit' peg so some modifying will be needed. Harley pegs will work if you drill out the original pivot holes larger and use a 3/8" bolt.

        Foot Peg Rubber

It is helpful to look up the Yamaha part number on sites like Partzilla. Use the numbers when searching on eBay. Insures that you get the correct part.

I have a set well worn ones and can send pictures if you are interested. I searched more then 2 years before I found a good looking set on Ebay. The 1980 ones do not show up often on there.
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

XS650 pegs will fit. Source some used XS650 pegs front and rear. Brand new OEM rubber covers are available for them. You could also fit aftermarket XS650 pegs if you found some you like. Covers for the G and H models are unobtainium, so this is a very good alternative.

If you remove the rubber from the pegs be careful. At the end of the ped post it has some thin sheet metal that perpendicular to the peg that forms a "T". You'll likely be pulling like a bastard and swearing like a salor at it then it will abruptly slide off at which point the T'ed end slices through flesh and fingernail. DAMHIKT
