    Part needed shift plate

    Hey all,

Looking for part number 2H7-18561-00. It's a shift plate, 1 of 2 on the shift cam (the plate I need, lower left in the pic, appears to have four prongs, and is underneath another plate. Two of the lugs are broken which causes the shift pins to fall out which means. I can't shift! Help!!!

    Hey there,

Probably have posted this BEFORE JetMechMarty would have a chance to, he likes to promote this site for parts!

A short while back we had a discussion about this particular part, and we wondered why Yamaha designed such a funky looking part for that purpose. 3Phase/Scott had said that he would look into the design of the shift drum, to see why we couldn't just grind off the ends of the extra length of the dowels that stick out thru the end of the shift drum, and then just put a regular flat thick washer over ALL of the pins, so that you wouldn't have to worry about the OEM flimsy angled tanged washer to get BENT again during a mishift or such that causes the PINS to get pushed against the flimsy washer tangs!?

That part is listed as not available. Same as every other sight I've been to.

I forgot about the starfish washer, the pins and shift pawl, T.C., sorry about that.

Once more around the goldfish bowl, when I get back I'll have all new friends!

For 12 bucks I would just get a new one. I didn't know the star plates were still available.

Hey Greg. His quandry is that he can not find a new one. I can supply a used one but if you know where to get a new one, then I agree that would be the better choice.

New ones are unavailable/obsolete. Do you have a source?
