    Got a Raptor CCTA

I've been following this thread and ordered a Raptor 660 adjuster off evil bay.
It arrived a week or so ago and I noticed it didn't have the gasket so I'd like to thank Radioguylogs for posting the link to Partzilla.com, the part number and the price. I literally just got done ordering it so that I can do the mod on my '79 Special.

Shipping was actually more than the part.

Anyhow, back out to the shop to finish building a side roof to stick all the 'stuff' that somehow found its way into the work area so I can actually have room to get started working on my bikes.

All of my bikes are projects, maybe one day I'll have them running.

I just got mine installed. I had to open up the holes a little. It made all the difference in the world. No more noise on shutdown.

I was amazed that was the problem. It sounded more like the primary chain. Hope it does not come back.

Some of the ACCTs have a slightly different hole pattern than the XS. You can use either. One {as mentioned} had to have the holes opened up, the other one does not require this mod and fits properly.

Was your stock tensioner defective? Reason I am asking is to make sure that you are aware that the chain may have excessive wear. New chains are available if needed.

No offense MPittma100, but the stock tensioners are defective by design from new. The set bolt, if it were actually a true set bolt would help hold shaft in place. A TRUE allen head set bolt is concave at bottom intentionally, having a raised outer portion, creating a sharp circle to 'grab' the shaft metal. Secondly, in order for a set-screw to hold properly, it has to be set fairly tight. Something that outer wall of the cheap-azz aluminum pot-metal casting won't stand, as several have found out. For sake of the argument against the stockers, I have two original ones that neither one has marks over 1/4" in total distance, with repeating marks directly adjacent and covering the prior marks partially over a 30+yr. period. Those shafts have moved back and forth more than a trombone slide with so many re-adjustments.
The last straw for me was while on centerstand, a qick blip of the throttle was all it took to kick that shaft back away from tension, and slap..slap...slap goes the chain. Even if it moves back ever so slightly, undue wear on the link pins IS gonna occur from the slack.
Best advice I can give, is if anyone has a NOS cam chain adjuster, leave it on the shelf for a conversation piece or use it for a paper weight.

The stock tensioner looked fine. I might try a new chain if needed but right now I am just glad the noise is gone. I still have a lot of work to do. My list is getting smaller.
