I just bought a new Stihl weed eater. The dealer told me to under no circumstaces put ethanol fuel in it. They'll sell me the fuel if I can't find it elsewhere. No problem.

We've got ethanol free places here also.. no difference in price. It just might not be at a station that's close.

Greg, don't touch those carbs! People pay extra for that patina on stuff! Don't you ever watch Antique Roadshow or Pickers? lol.

No E costs more because it isn't tax subsidized. Your tax dollars pay for ethanol fuel.

I used those carbs (79 XS) to get the 85 FJ 1100 engine running that I picked up from Harry. When the guy bought it I just pulled them off and stuck them on the shelf without draining them. Figured I would do it later.

                  Right!

Now I need them here they are. Yup, I'm a dumbazz.

                      110 LL Fuel

Makes a stop at your local small airport to see if they will sell you a little 110LL (Low Lead). That fuel will make anything run like you've never felt it run before! I use to work at a local airport and hot-rodders would show up with gas cans and we'd fill 'em up. Fuel is pricey but WORTH EVERY PENNY!

One problem with the 110 and the XS1100. 110 is 110 octane, a slower burning fuel made for high compression engines. The XS1100 was designed to run on 85 octane fuel, and that was the OLD rating! IF you run the 110 in the XS1100, you WILL carbon up the engine!! These bike just do NOT run well on that high an octane. You can get away with the midgrade at low altitudes, but above about 4K, regular is the best you can do for these bikes.

And, it was 84 - 85 octane and a dollar+ more gallon than here.
