    1979 parts bike compatibility with 1980 special

    I have a 1980 special with bent frame due to accident and am also in need of front wheel, rotors, and fender. I see this bike on craigslist and think it is a good deal but wonder if the frame is compatible with 1980. Also a little confused if this bike is 1979 since it has slotted rotors. Thoughts on using this bike frame and front end parts to get my 1980 bike back on the road?

    Buy the bike!!!!! For 60 bucks the header are worth up to $200. The frame will work. There may be some differences but nothing that can't be over come.

      Even gots the nice Jardine slip-ons on the Jardine 'sketti' pipes. MNS bars for 'tradin' material, etc.

        Clearly not a 79. No kick shaft, front frame reflectors. Snap it up.

          Grab it!! the rear of the frame tells me it's an '80, so you should have no problems....

            Confirmed it is an 80 special. Closing the deal on Saturday. Excited to get my old bike back on the road! It will take a little work to get everything onto the new frame but it still purrs like a champ.

              Honestly, I bet you could do it in a day, or stretch it out over two. I've diassembled a 750 to the frame in under two hours.

                Since you are going to have to register with the new vin might be worth checking out the new motor with same vin and just move what you need from the wrecked bike. JAT
