X-pipes can produce more power, but packaging one on a motorcycle is a challenge. There's a bit of snake oil going on here, as the power gain won't be huge. Interestingly enough, this is one of very few new exhaust systems still being offered for the XS. But besides the high price, the biggest drawback is the system isn't a direct bolt-on. A lister here bought one, and had to modify the frame/sidestand to get clearance for it and also ended up with reduced ground clearance.
