  • Head

I was working on the head yesterday and tried to lap the valves in. No luck though, they all leaked after several attempts. Some more than others. Finally measured the lap width and location on the valves and discovered this head needs to have the seats recut. This rebuild has been problematic from the start. The PO just rode it I guess and never did maintenance like checking the shims and stuff. Little wonder he just abandoned it when it died. I'm going to check with some shops today and see if it can be done economically, but I'm pretty sure it can't be and I'll have to find another head that will seal before I waste time on cleaning it up.

Depends HOW economical you mean? You probs won't get it done for less than $75 to justify the labor rate.
