    Turn signel

I have a problem where the right turn will not work unless I push the lever to the left first and the cancel does not work. Does anyone have any suggestions on my 79 xs1100 special.

One of the first things to work over on a 25 year old motorcycle is the electrical connections and switches.

Of course some of the other first things to work on are the carbs and the camchain and the brakes and the pick-up coil wires,, oh and did I mention the carbs...

But back to your original question - there are a lot connectors to get corroded over time, especially if the bike has spent any time stored outdoors. The signal switch itself is a fairly simple device, but is is susceptible to dirt and water, and even the bulbs and their sockets can cause trouble. Maybe start with the bulbs and sockets, and work your way through all the way to the battery.

    Happy hunting!
