  • First Start-Up of the Season . . .

And it did not sound good. Not firing on all four cylinders, carbs leaking, and exhaust and/or bent valves? I did a cold/dry compression test prior to start-up on all four cylinders, and saw 100+ psi. So, that was a good start. However, upon startup, it's easy to confuse a bent valve noise with exhaust leaks.

Carbs will have to come back off to see why they're leaking, and another compression test to see if I did indeed bend some valves (again).

However, I coulda sworn I put about two gallons of gas in the tank, but when I lifted up the tank to take it off, it felt too light for two gallons. I had the bike on "On", so maybe there was not enough gas and I shoulda had it on Reserve, thus not firing on all 4 cylinders.

Idk, not enough time in the day anymore. Holidays, birthdays, etc., rob me of any diagnosing time. Hope to pull the carbs back off soon and see what the deal is.

    Ian,
I would add some fresh gas to the tank and start it on prime. Give her a few minutes with the choke on and see if the motor settles down. If it does it probaly just needs to run a 100 miles to clear the system. Go for the easy way first then you will know if you have a real problem.
