How does Cy's setup count time? How long will it leave the signals flashing before it cancels?

The capacitor in the OEM 'flasher' is what determines the frequency of the flashes, or the same function as a regular bi-metal flasher. How long the lights stay energized/flashing is determined by the module. The module gets a 'on' signal when the turn switch is turned on, and this starts the internal 'clock' in the module. The actual amount of time is 'calculated' by time 'on' and the speed input from the speedo. Cy's mod has no effect on the module.

        Hey MrHammer2U,

Another point that nobody has pointed out is that you have a 79SF. IT uses just 1 shared turn signal indicator light in the dash compared to the later models that use separate arrows/lights for each side L & R. And with LEDS, you can get a BLEED BACK of current from one side THRU the dash light circuit to the OTHER SIDE and then ALL 4 lights will flash at the same time. The trick that is needed is to put diodes on both sides of the turn signal circuits at the dash, so that when one side is energized, it will stop the current from flowing to the other side and vice versa.

Many of us don't bother/use the self cancelling feature, because it would often turn OFF the signal before the turn, and it is a simple thing to just push straight IN the turn signal switch lever to cancel the signal....you may not have known/learned this without the OEM owner's manual!?
