Can someone that still has the original exhaust on a standard take a picture of how the hardware configuration is for hanging the exhaust. The fiche picture is pretty sketchy and the PO had put a 4-1 kerker on this one and threw away the OEM stuff. The specials had a slot with a rubber damper in it but the hangers on the standard exhaust look pretty basic but I'm sure rubber and washers should be in there someplace.

Mack, they mount pretty much the same as the Special exhaust, the only real difference is the standard exhaust brackets bolt to the mufflers rather than being permanently welded on. The hardware is slightly different from the Specials though, but Boats.net shows it as still available. You need parts 30 through 34 x 2 (as shown in the '78E 'stand/footrest' fiche), all but the chrome lockwasher (33) is still available according to their website. NOT shown is the large chrome washer that goes under the lockwasher that covers the rubber grommet.

      Thanx

Steve. So the rubber grommet in the foot rest bracket is the only rubber involved in mounting them. I'd have thought there was more isolation. Strange, none of my manuals even show the exhaust system breakdown.
The fire I had in my shop resulted in the insurance contractors mis-placing or throwing out stuff. I'm missing strange things like locating dowls for the cases and covers, misc. bolts, nuts, head bolts and washers, harness hanger clips and such. At the time, it was impossible to know what was thrown out. I'm sure having fun finding out now.

Yep, that's all there is. But if you think about it, too much isolation would promote cracks in the system; as it is, you sometimes get them.
