What do the wires that connect to the headlight bucket fasteners go to? They have the hoop connector and seem like a ground. Ground for exactly what though? I have a diagram but can't figure out.

Thanks!
The stock turn signals are single wire on the Specials. Those are the grounds for them.

Thanks Jet. That's what I thought. I'm installing 2 wire aftermarket and not sure I'm grounding right. What I did was re-attach the original (they way it was when I opened the headlight), crimped on a hoop connector to the new black ground wire of my new signal and then connected that wire piggy back onto the buckets fastener.....just like the original.
I'm not getting anything on the front blinkers. I know I need to change my flasher, but the lights don;t even turn on.
There is NO GROUND to the bucket fastener! The ground with the loop is what makes the bucket "grounded" to the frame, and battery negative. IF you have a VOM, check for a black wire with three female bullet connectors on it. Set to Ohms, that should be the ground to frame. Check between the negative battery and the frame, then the frame and connectors.
The "main" ground for the front of the bike should be the mount screws on the Regulator/Rectifier. There are two or three heavy wires that go under the screws for frame ground.
The two wires on the front signals should be about 5 Ohms resistance. this is through the light bulb.

Yes. The "old" signals wire with loop should have had a bullet connector on it. That is what was connected to ground.
To make things easy, clamp one lead to the frame ground with vise grips, so you still have two hands to check things with. DO NOT clamp too tight, though, just so the one probe stays in place.
