  • Questions about aftermarket handlebar controls

I'm missing my emergency cutoff switch, my hi-beam switch, and my throttle sleeve is in pieces. I see a bunch of aftermarket universal parts online for $15 and less, but I don't know if they'll work or not. I don't care if they're super high quality, I'm really just trying to get this thing on the road (then I'll upgrade stuff in the future). I don't mind having to cut/splice some wires to make it work, I'm not expecting plug-and-play.

Has anyone used these? Something like this or this.

I also need a front master cylinder, it's difficult figuring out what I need. I have a Standard with dual discs.

If you do that, you'll likely be on your own trying to figure out how it works. Mike's XS has direct replacements for the XS650. You may have to move some wires around in the plug, but they'll be pretty easy to figure out. The right side control is available new OEM.

16 mm bore is a good bet for a master cylinder with stainless lines to the calipers.

I've been following your other thread and congrats on getting her running, good work.

Check with member Andreas Weiss for what your bike needs, as he keeps a lot of our bikes on the road with good, fair priced, used parts.

You may wish to post in the "parts wanted / needed" section of the Classifieds, for what you need, as a lot of us have extras on the shelves collecting dust.

TopCatGr58 has the upgrade fuse boxes available for a fair price also.

Also here's a few options, for the controls, on ebay,:

And for the front MC :

      http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw...Text=&_sacat=0
1980 XS1100G "Dolly G" Full Dresser (with a coat of many colors )
      1979 XS1100SF (stock-euro mods planned)
      1984 XV700L Virago (to be hot-modded)
      1983 XJ750MK Midnight Maxim (semi-restored DD)
      1977 XS650D ( patiently awaiting resto)

Sometimes it takes a whole tank of gas before you can think straight.

I ended up buying this master cylinder. I'll be sure to reply back whenever I get around to actually driving the thing (still need tires, and I found a bunch of holes in my tank after stripping paint).
