    ? about ignition switch

I bought a 79 standard with no key so I need to replace the ignition switch. Is the standard and special ignition the same for 79?

    Thanks!

You can have a key made easily and cheaply! Unbolt the ignition switch, and take it to a good locksmith. Should be about $20 for a new key, and it will work on the rest of the locks on the bike.

Looking at mikes XS, most of the XS1100's use the same switch. He has a new one for $40, so keep that in mind...

There is a four digit number right beside the key slot. The locksmith will use that number to make a key. Another probably more expensive option is to order a key from the dealer using that number.
