I have a good transmission out of a 79 special. Both sets of gears, shift forks, drum, and fork rod. I'm curious of what would be a fair market value. Thanks.

These transmissions are pretty bulletproof other than the 1st/2nd gear issues, so you won't find many needing a complete unit (or willing to pay shipping on it). The four gears possibly needed for the 1/2 repair are worth something, the rest not so much. I'd say a max of $150 if it's near-perfect or better, less if there's any rounding/wear in the shift dogs/slots.Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two
