  • Who here has a modified standard WITH the square gauges & lights?

I'm picking up a $300 79 standard with the squares. Going to clean her up and do some slight modifications, cafe or tracker. The square cluster just doesn't look so great. Wondering if anyone has a standard that they pimped out. Looking for ideas.

    Thanks!

"The Rev" used a digital instrument cluster. Not a beginner's install. Did the bike come with tank/side covers?

No tank. Got a nice one here from a member delivered today. No side covers. Ordered a pair from ebay, on the way.

I have a digital going on my personal but I having someone install. Not sure I want to get tangles up on that. Might swap to the stock round if I really don't like the look.

Consider an Acewell gauge. You can get all the functions in one little meter. Dime City and several other vendors have them. I've seen them on modified XS650's and their owners praise them.

One thing you can do with the stock gauges is something with that flat black trim ring. That's actually black oxide finished stainless steel, so if you buff off the oxide, you can have a 'chrome' ring.

Hey Jet. I actually have that exact gauge (in black) going on my personal ride now. It's a little small, but I love the looks and functions.

I just picked up the bike yesterday. Might have bit off more than I can chew on this flip....lol. I may be selling as is or parting it out.

The owner claims it ran but:
                1. Did not have a key, so I couldn't even see if it turned over or if any elec worked.
                2. No gas tank - who gets rid of a gas tank if you're trying to build a bike??? But I knew this going in.
                3. Fuse panel was fussed with. God knows what they did or what did not work.
