  • Caliper Pistons

Ok, from what I understand this is the way it goes. There are basically three types of calipers and associated pistons. The LG and LH are in their own category. The standards and specials are in their own category each. However the rear caliper and piston is the same for the standards and specials, other than the LG and LH.
Do we have a member who is turning out pistons for the standards and specials? Or, does anyone have a link to a supplier for fronts and rears standards and specials?

The LG brakes are the same as any other Special, the LH shares parts with the XJ. There's just three piston designs; the 'standard' front/rear, Special rear is one, the Special front/LH/XJ rear is another, and the LH/XJ front is the last. HVC sells all three types....

PartsNMore only carries the 'standard' front/Special rear pistons; not for the Special Front or LH/XJ front or rear. I also believe theirs are chrome-plated steel, so will be prone to rust like the OEM ones are. Add in the higher price compared to HVC, there's not much to recommend them as a source....

The XS1100 standard is the same as XS650. That expands the search some. Canadian supplier XS650 Direct has the standard piston for $23.95 CAD ea.

Many other XS650 parts suppliers will have them.

                Hi Marty,
Same as Parts N More. For some reason some prices vary between the two sites but ships from the same location.

                    Lucked out

Went to the dealer a couple days ago to get the steering head races and bearing kits. While I was there this topic came up and the owner recalled having seen some in the back some years ago. He went and rooted around and came out with three new OEM ones. I took them off his hands for $30 bucks. He was happy to get rid of them and I was happy to provide them a good home!
Still want an extra set for each of the SF and LH though but this will aloow me to get the E on the road this spring.

                        Well you

have to remember Steve, I'm the only one withing 200 miles of this place that even knows what and XS 11 is. Im his only customer for these parts.
He had an E way back when and has a picture of it on his wall. Used to take to Daytona annually and loved it. I told him that when mine is done,(before I put the Pacifico kit on it) that i would let him take it for a ride. That has garnered me some discounts and a little advice.
