  • Headlight Wiring on 80 XS1100

I just purchased an 80 xs1100 and the lights are jury rigged. Can anyone direct me as to the proper wiring behind the headlamp. All the lights work just not properly.

Get yourself a "Clymer's" manual. The copy I've got has the wiring diagrams in color ( alot easier to read than the Yamaha book). The manual will become amost as invaluable as this site for you with time. These a good old bikes that need TLC. Good luck with the wiring grelimns.

Search xs1100 under e-bay motors and you can find a brand new clymer manual for 19.95+shipping (27 bucks total) I just bought one to supplement my Haynes manual. That bloody Britspeak and all. (Carburettors?, what the h@%$ is that?)

You may eventually find that the OEM lighting system sucks! I did. If you jury rig it the "right way" it will work better than new with a switchable headlight.
