  • Gasket Set - Why eight small 0-ring seals?

Here's another opportunity to prove how inexperienced I am with this bike.

I purchased a gasket kit and it has all of them (except the breather cover gasket which I got from another source). I know all of them provided except for the eight small 0-rings (I know what the four large ones are for).

My problem is I don't know exactly what they are for. I can see a couple being used in spots but not eight. Also why are there eight? That's a particularly round number which has meaning to a four cylinder engine.

I've been in the manuals and searched the site with no joy.

They are about the same size as the one between the case halves for the oil feed tube.

Thanks again for all the help.

If I remember correct they are for the valve guides. So unless you were to remove the valve guides you would not need them.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

That makes sense. On the parts breakdown they show o-rings with the valve guides. They were a good so I didn't replace them.

You took the valve guides out? or did you just have the oil seals off the valves?

The valve guides need to be pressed out.
