just a thought ( bmw light)

My old bmw r75/6 has a great light pattern. It should be a direct swap. Uses h4 bulbs and is 7". Cheap to buy used bmw lens.

I don't care about the price because if it keeps a car out of my path and lights the darkness ahead I'll be happy.

TY for making it an easier choice rather than experimenting with cash.
GMAC- Get ahold of Cat-bug. He just bought the round Truck-Lite LED bulb, which is much cheaper than my rectangle. It may be a direct swap, and is amazing! However, one issue that I just corrected with LED driving lights is the fact that right in-front of the tire was dark. I ran-over something a month ago that I did not see till I ran over it. Will post pics soon.

That will work.... although it's a low-price unit so the optics may not be the best. The lamp designation (HB2) is the same as a H4, but with tighter design specs for the US market. Also known as a 9003 lamp.

              Thank You Steve !
              So even with the HB2 it's P&P ?
Or would it be better with say Sylvania Silverstar Ultra, as Ian suggested ?
If I don't see enough improvement, (I do expect some) I could use it in one I'm selling and what would be a better or more improvement without going $$$$$ ?

It looks like the right unit, but they're listing it as a fog light (and Cibie did make a 7" round fog light, which doesn't have the same optics as the headlights) so I'd ask some questions before buying.

Daniel Stern is a one-man operation, so he's sometimes hard to get hold of. He used to have a phone number listed, I see that's no longer listed...

                          I ordered

the Cibie light, ceramic lamp headers and a 90/130 lamp on Amazon after waiting for a while to hear from Daniel Stern.

As luck would have it I heard from him a day or two after I had placed my order. Parts came in and it should be a snap to install the ceramic headlamp connector with crimp splices and shrink tubing.

Steve, do you remember if it is the 190mm or the 200mm headlight for the standard?

The standard uses the 200mm x 142mm lens.

One thing I noticed is Cibie is discontinuing some of the older sizes and 'specialty' lens units. And given how almost no vehicles still use 'standard universal' lights anymore with almost everything having purpose-built 'styled' lens assemblies for a particular model, how long a quality replacement for these will be around is something to think about...

And running a high-wattage lamp isn't a good idea. First, these have a considerably shorter lifespan. Two, they draw a lot more power; a 130 watt lamp will draw over 10 amps (half the total capacity of the XS charging system) and put additional stress on the switches. You really should run these through a relay, at least for the high beam.
