  • Cam chain gasket

No idea how this happened, but the cam chain gasket didn't seated very well. The chain, or something appeared to be clicking against the gasket. I removed the Cylinder head, replaced the gasket and the problem seem to have gone away.

The odd thing was that must of the Cylinder head nuts were lose? Also, I think, one of the cam Rod bolts fell off?? (Either that I've spent to much time in the sun. this seemed to have happened after it was running. Very weird.

Put it all together to find the cam chain feel off the bottom sproket. Is this an indication that something is wrong? Fixed the problem. Dropped the cam chain tentioner and the housing broke. (I'm going to drink now). Have one ordered hopefully Monday.

By the way when charging my battery, Canadian Tire special , do I have to take the caps off?

    Re: Cam chain gasket

Cam bod bolts? Do you mead one of the studs through the cam bosses came loose? They are studs with nuts on top.

I hope the cam chain didn't slip a cog while running! Bent valves are usually the result. :-(

If the tensioner broke when it hit the floor, it was probably cracked anyway. I can't imagine what could have been striking the gasket (on the inside of its cavity?) Maybe the stopper bolt and buddy nut came loose and the tensioner ram was just bouncing back and forth. Yikes! When you get the new one, be ultra careful about torque specs, 'cause they are easy to break or strip. Also, Do not think you can hold tension on the chain with your finger while you turn the crank to the C-mark. I tried that once and I had to start over realigning the cams dots with the arrows at top dead center.

You do not have to take off the water caps when charhing the battery. There is usually an overflow hose. You might want to trickle charge it all night instead of quiick charging it to prevent "boiling" it.
