New Member, first post. Hoping someone can tell me where to find a couple front brake caliper mounting bolts for my 79 XS1100 SF. I've tried 3 MC dealers, Fastenal, a Toyota Car Parts dealer and Ace Hardware, NO LUCK

Hey there,
Well, I checked the OEM Yamaha fiche, part NLA.
I have read on here other members acquiring replacement bolts due to theirs being BENT, so they had to get them from somewhere. I'm very surprised that FASTENAL couldn't match one up?
I don't have one LOOSE right now, so I can't do the basic measurements of it, diameter, length, thread zone. I would think McMaster/Carr would be able to help you find one with similar dimensions, and in at least a grade 5 version.
Perhaps someone who has recently replaced theirs will chime in.

The Special caliper bolt is an M8 X 1.25 and measures 92.5 MM long. As for the length, a 90 or 95 mm should be fine, I would lean more towards the 95.2H7 (79) owned since '89

I buy them at a local old Ace hardware store. Any fastener place should have them and if not then they should be able to get them. It is not an uncommon fastener.Mike Giroir

Once you un-can a can of worms, the only way to re-can them is with a bigger can.

Update on this, the 90MM length will work just fine (using them on my SF now) so the correct size replacement bolt is M8 X 1.25 X 90. Ace hardware carries them.2H7 (79) owned since '89
