OK, so I also need a new headlight for the SG. Getting old, and the eyes need lots of help. Recommendations?

Depends on how much ur willing to spend. Is your headlight fuctioning? Have you considered auxillary lights? I would recommend the Truck Lite LED headlight. I would also recommend the HID conversion TC has in his write-up. I would also recommend using a Sylvania Silverstar Ultra headlight bulb if you go neither of the above.

The Truck-Lit will be the easiest option by far since it is basically plug and play. It is though, the most expensive at somewhere around $150 - $200.

The HID conversion is going to be a bit more work just because you have to retrofit a different style lens and do some re-wiring. With a decent lens and the HID unit you still might be pushing $100

The Sylvania Silverstar Ultra headlight bulb does throw more light but not a whole lot more and the light is more white than yellow. It is by far the cheapest at around $30.

:Oh, I am sorry honey, I was saying it would be about $200 for each. Not $200 for both. Already have them installed, can't return them now."

I hear ya'! I used the HID option for a couple years, waiting for the LED prices to come down a bit. Finally made the switch a few weeks ago when the last HID ballast went out. I do like the clean beam of the LED bulb! much better than that of the HID bulb in the OEM headlight reflector, and brighter too!

I just swapped out the old OEM Stanley H4 Vetter round headlight with a H4 "clear cut" headlight from flea bay. Pretty big difference from the Stanley unit. It was around $40 the pair (yup, I have one laying around). It was plug and play and fit the Vetter headlight housing. I run a 80/100w bulb in it. Clear cut has a more focused low beam (reflects from the back of the headlight more) and the high beam goes a lot further. Gonna try a 6k bulb in it and see if that helps. Put HID 6k bulbs (slight bluish tint) in my car and it helped a bunch. I also added some small, round, LED running lights to the crash bars. They were around $15. Wasn't expecting much from them (mostly to be seen and not to see more) but they really lit up the road. Not much distance to them, maybe 20 some feet. Not bad for putting around town. I aint convinced of the longevity of a aftermarket motorcycle HID setups yet. Least with a car, you have two headlights. A lot easier to carry a spare H4 bulb to. With HID"s, you don't know if its a bulb or ballast issue.
