  • Where do you buy your jet kits from?

On ebay I found 6sigma. Then there is the brand name Dynojet for $50 more. Both seem to come with all the necessaries to make the change.

I did a search on 6sigma and did not find enough info to turn me away from them.

    Thoughts?

Depends on what all you need. Are you just looking for jets or are you looking for carb rebuild kits?

Plus DynoJet no longer (and hasn't for many years) makes a kit for the early XS carbs, only the later model carbs. So unless you have late carbs on your '79 that is a no go.

Hi natemon. I noticed on DJ's site it starts at 1980. I should not need a rebuild, just rejet because I have pod filters and modified my exhaust. My headers are blue so I know I'm lean.

You really shouldn't have to buy a whole kit unless like Nate said you are looking for more parts then just the jets. From what you are describing and if you reference this thread http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=382, all you need to do is go up on the pilot and main jets by 1 size maybe two. You could buy both those sizes from here for a lot less then a whole kit....http://www.buyatvpartsonline.com/mik...c-699_707.html

Cajun, thanks. The whole jetting thing is so beyond my comprehension. Even after researching on line. When I call local MC repair shops and tell them I have a 79 xs100 that needs jetting I get about 10 seconds of silence followed up by a sigh and a bunch of questions I cannot answer.

All I've added was foam pod filters and straight pipes. My headers are blue now.

Is there a "for dummies" version???? lol

You can go to your local shop and tell them "I need 4, Mikuni large round main jets of xxx size. Not K&L jets, not R&D jets, not DinoJets, genuine Mikuni.". Then you will get a sigh because they will have to order them usually and then they have to carry that big heavy parts book.

Or order them from one of the 2 sites listed above.

There is no dummies version for straight pipes if that's what you're stuck on using. Now, if you're putting your Mac pipes back on, you can get away with one Main jet increase. You can get away with not using the pilot jet. I have a modified engine, had Mac exhaust and modified airbox, and still only ran one size up on the mains, and she runs like a raped ape in a cage.

IF you go with DynoJet...ther is no going back. Requires modification to the carb body. Not recommended for carb rookies
