Hey all,
I have been riding the BIGDOG everyday since I finally got her back on the road. Got about 125 miles on her so far since the valve guide issue. I decided to re torque everything. Heard a little valve chatter, not much, but decided to check valve clearanceand re-torqued the cam caps. In doing so, I found one of the nuts on intake number 3 to be loose. So I thought it was loose. In fact the stud is just spinning in the head. It will not draw down and it won't back out.
Now My question: Is that threaded stud hole positioned over an oil path? If I have to drill out that hole to put a heli-coil in am I punching into an oil path? My concern is the shavings that might make it into the oil. I can sheild everything externally. But if the hole is over a valve path I would be dropping some nasty shavings into my oil.
Does anyone have a head off that they could look at and see if you can tell? I don't want to have to pull the head and buy another head gasket. I have already been through three.
Of course I will if that's what it takes.
